Morehead, Ky.-- Morehead State used a solid attack and a stout presence at the net to sweep Tennessee Tech (25-21, 25-23, 25-21) and run their winning streak to seven matches to begin Ohio Valley Conference play Friday in Johnson Arena.
Morehead State (13-5, 7-0 OVC) was led offensively by
M.E. Hargan and
Hollan Everett. Hargan posted 15 kills, hitting .333, and Everett notched 14 to lead Morehead State. The Eagles posted eight total blocks to six for Tennessee Tech.
Bailey Brashear and Hargan led MSU with three blocks apiece.
Tennessee Tech (7-13, 4-4) was led by Bella Powell and Alayna Pierce with nine kills each. Freshman Tuva Falk led the Golden Eagles with three blocks.
The first set was tightly contested from the open. Tennessee Tech used 6-1 run to stretch out to a 13-8 lead. The Eagles responded with a 5-0 run to lead 18-16 and never tied or trailed the remainder of the set. Everett got off to a fast start with seven kills in the set while hitting .462. The MSU attack hit .300 while holding TTU to a .158 hitting percentage.
Set two was another close affair with 15 ties and eight lead changes in the frame. MSU got an early 8-4 lead after a four-point run; Tech rallied to a 10-10 tie. From that point, neither team led by more than two points. Tech was strong up front, posting five blocks in the frame.
The third set was another closely contested frame, with 14 ties and seven lead changes. Morehead State got a three-point run to go ahead 20-17, to give them a cushion. Hargan ended the match with a kill to seal the win. The Eagles posted a .357 attack percentage and four blocks in the frame.
Morehead State will close out their three-match home stand Tuesday when they face Tennessee State in Johnson Arena. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET.

- Hollan Everett posted her 700th career kill in the second set Friday. She has recorded 197 kills on the season.
- Morehead State posted a .267 hitting percentage for the match; Tennessee Tech posted a .188 attack percentage. The match marked the sixth in seven conference matches the Eagles have held their opponent to a sub-.200 efficiency.
- MSU had a 57-53 edge in digs. Eagle setter Sydney Sennett collected 10 for match honors. She also dished out 37 assists, posting her 18th career double-double.
- Morehead State had an 8-2 advantage in service aces. Logan Smith led with three aces, giving her 13 on the season.
