Eagle Volleyball Treks to Cape Girardeau to Battle SEMO

Morehead, Ky.-- The Morehead State volleyball team will take their unblemished conference record on the road this weekend as they visit Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau, Mo., in the first of four consecutive weekends against opponents currently in the top half of the Ohio Valley Conference standings.

The Eagles swept Tennessee State Tuesday at home in Johnson Arena to run their win streak to eight matches to begin their conference schedule. Morehead State is in first place in the OVC standings, ahead of Little Rock and Eastern Illinois which are tied for second place in the conference at 6-2.

The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, Friday and 3:00 p.m. ET Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to be aired on ESPN+.

NOTABLE
  • Morehead State leads the Ohio Valley Conference in kills (13.42 kills per set) and hitting percentage (.242). The Eagles rank second in total blocks (2.18 blocks per set) and second in service aces averaging 1.82 aces per set (118 total).
  • M.E. Hargan leads the Ohio Valley Conference averaging 4.42 kills per set, which ranks 15th nationally in NCAA Division I. Hargan also leads the OVC averaging 5.17 points per set, which ranks 11th nationally. She has posted a .256 hitting percentage, which ranks seventh in the OVC.
  • One match shy of the halfway point of the conference schedule, Morehead State ranks second in the OVC averaging 1.92 aces per set in OVC conference play. The Eagles have competed in just 26 sets in their first eight conference matches, the fewest in the OVC.
  • Amelia Nott and Tinsley Brown are tied for third in conference play with 12 aces each. Nott leads MSU with 25 aces this season.
  • Nott has slammed 96 aces in her career at MSU, which ranks 10th in the MSU record books for modern era. Nott needs just two more to move into 9th place on the list and is four shy of the 8th position. She is within nine aces of moving into 4th on the list.
  • Junior Hollan Everett is second on the team with 204 kills. Her 3.14 kills per set average ranks 10th in the OVC. She has also turned away 40 total blocks, which ranks fourth on the team. Her 14 block solos are the most on the squad. Everett is also averaging 3.55 points per set, which ranks eighth in the OVC.
  • Junior setter Sydney Sennett is ranked second in the OVC averaging 9.51 assists per set. She has recorded 618 assists this season. She is averaging 11.31 assists per set in conference play, which also ranks second in the OVC.
  • Sennett has dished out 1,551 assists in her career, which ranks eighth in the modern era in the Morehead State record books.
  • Bailey Brashear leads MSU with 57 total blocks. Her 0.88 blocks per set rate ranks ninth in the OVC. In conference play, she is averaging a block per set, which is tied for 6th in the OVC.
  • Nott ranks second in the OVC with a .335 attack percentage. If she were able to maintain that efficiency, she would post the third-highest percentage in the modern era. Through the Eagles' first eight conference matches, she is hitting .333 in conference play, which is tied for the top spot in the OVC.  
 
SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
  • Southeast Missouri comes into the series on a three-match losing streak. The Redhawks dropped a pair of four-set matches at Eastern Illinois last weekend and took SEC member Missouri to five sets before falling 3-2 at home in Cape Girardeau.
  • The SEMO attack is spearheaded by Lucy Arndt, who ranks fourth in the OVC with 315 kills and a 3.50 kills per set rate. The junior is a two-time All-OVC First Team selection and was the OVC Freshman of the Year in 2023. She has piled up over 1,200 kills and over 100 aces in her career.
  • Sophomore Alaina Lester leads the SEMO effort at the net with 64 total blocks; she ranks 10th in the OVC averaging 0.88 blocks per set. Last season she posted 105 total blocks, which is fifth-most in program history.
  • Junior libero Nina Schuberth ranks fifth in the OVC averaging over four digs per set. She has also slugged 33 service aces, which ranks ninth in the OVC. She was last year's OVC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-OVC First-Team selection in 2024 after posting 563 digs last fall.
MILESTONE WATCH
  • Hargan has notched 1,282 kills in her career, which ranks 3rd in the Morehead State record book for the modern, 25-point rally scoring era.
  • Hargan's 3,632 total attacks rank third in the modern era. She is nine swings shy of second in the modern era.
  • Hargan has smacked 83 service aces in her career. She is four aces shy of tying for 10th in the record book.
  • Nott has 249 total blocks to her credit in her career. That ranks eighth in the MSU record book for the modern era. She needs 33 more blocks to move to the eighth slot.
  • Nott's career .274 hitting percentage ranks third in the modern era in program history.
  • Sennett has dished out 1,551 assists in her career, which ranks eighth in the modern era in the Morehead State record books.
