"We played well," said Morehead State head coach
Chris Rose. "We played really hard against one of the best teams in the country, a team that traditionally wins because they are highly talented guys that play great baseball."

Alex Kean went 2-4 at the plate. The Eagle first-baseman led off the second inning with a home run to right field.
Davis Germann went 2-4. with  with an RBI and a stolen base. JUCO transfer Ian McCubbin (South Arkansas College) also went 2-4 at the plate, with an RBI double, driving in Kean in the fifth..

Blake Hager and redshirt-junior
Carter Owens also threw scoreless innings for MSU.
The Eagles rebounded in the nightcap, winning 6-3 on a strong pitching performance. Sophomore
Kamden Hawks got the start, throwing one inning, allowing one run, while walking two and striking out two Wildcats.
Senior
Josh Furtado and freshmen Sam Smith and Cole Wells each threw scoreless innings in the middle. Junior Devin Costa closed out the game with two scoreless innings, striking out a pair of Kentucky batters.
Louisville freshman Kyle Krupp highlighted the MSU offense in game two, going 2-3 with a walk and an RBI at the plate. Sophomore
Aubrey Kearns was 1-3 at the plate and drove in two runs. Catcher
Will Bomersbach went 1-1 with a double.
"We had a bunch of good individual performances," said Rose. "Kean, Costa, Hager, Davis (Germann), Krupp, Miller, and I'm sure I'm leaving some out. We played well overall. As coaches, we are using that to highlight how we need to play to win in the spring."
"Obviously, this was not a regular season game, but when the team plays baseball like it's supposed to be played for 14 innings, it should be recognized," said Rose. "This is a nice capstone to the fall season for sure."
Morehead State will open their 2026 campaign on Friday, February 13 against UMass-Lowell at home at Allen Field at Prefontaine Park.
