Volleyball Returns to Action at Lindenwood Friday

Morehead, Ky.-- The Morehead State volleyball team will get back to Ohio Valley Conference play after a nine-day layoff when it travels to St. Charles, Mo., to face off against Lindenwood Friday in the opener of a two-match conference slate.

The Eagles enter Robert F. Hyland Arena coming off a sweep of Tennessee State in Nashville last Tuesday. The MSU attack was very efficient; the Eagles posted 53 kills and a .437 hitting percentage, the highest percentage to-date in the OVC this season and the team's highest mark since they hit .438 at Tennessee Tech on March 8, 2021. M.E. Hargan led the attack with 17 kills while hitting .484. Hollan Everett added 15 kills and hit .542.

First serve Friday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. Saturday's start is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET. Both matches can be seen on ESPN+.

  • Morehead State leads the Ohio Valley Conference in kills (13.41 kills per set) and hitting percentage (.234). The Eagles rank fourth in total blocks (2.04 blocks per set) and third in service aces averaging 1.63 aces per set.
  • M.E. Hargan leads the Ohio Valley Conference with 225 kills, averaging 4.59 kills per set, which ranks 16th nationally in Division I. She leads the team with 17 aces and is second on the club with 148 digs. Hargan also leads the OVC averaging 5.27 points per set, which ranks 10th nationally.
  • Hollan Everett is second on the team with 154 kills. Her 3.14 kills per set average ranks eighth in the OVC. She has also turned away 29 total blocks, which ranks third on the team.   • Sydney Sennett has dished out 450 assists this season averaging 9.18 assists per set, which ranks third in the OVC.
  • Bailey Brashear leads MSU with 39 total blocks, averaging 0.80 blocks per set.
  • Freshman Kennedy Tinch has recorded 13 aces on the season. Her 0.41 average ranks third in the OVC.
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS

Lindenwood comes into the weekend after a sweep against SIUE Tuesday night in St. Charles. Sophomore Autumn Bax led the Lions with 11 kills, hitting .259 and 11 digs. The Lions attack hit .118 while SIUE hit .358.
  • Bax leads the Lion attack with 162 kills, averaging 3.24 kills per set, which ranks eighth in the OVC. She was the OVC Freshman of the Year and a Second-Team All-OVC selection, finishing ninth in the OVC averaging 2.98 kills per set and ranked 10th in the conference with a .261 hitting percentage.
  • Redshirt Sophomore Middle Hitter Jade Roth leads LU with 32 total blocks, including 10 block solos. Her .291 hitting percentage ranks sixth in the OVC.
 
MILESTONE WATCH
  • M.E. Hargan has notched 1,220 kills in her career, which ranks 4th in the Morehead State record book for the modern, 25-point rally scoring era. She needs 39 more to move into third.
  • Hargan's 3,632 total attacks rank third in the modern era. She needs 49 more swings to move into second.
  • Hargan has smacked 79 service aces in her career. She is eight aces shy of tying for 10th in the record book.
  • Amelia Nott has 233 total blocks to her credit in her career. That ranks ninth in the modern era. She needs 16 to move to eighth.
