Eagle Women's Hoops Travels to Ohio to Battle the Bobcats in Thursday Matinee

Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's basketball team returns to action Thursday when they take on Ohio in the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., ET. The game can be heard on the Eagle Sports Network with Tom Lewis on the call. It can also be watched on ESPN+.

Morehead State is coming off an 84-68 win over Bellarmine last Friday night in Louisville. Landon Forbes and Laura Toffali led the Eagles offense attack. Forbes finished with 22 points, shooting 8-10 from the floor, including 3-5 from three-point range. Toffali shot 6-15 from the field and hit seven of her nine free throw attempts. Both pulled down nine rebounds apiece, just missing double-doubles.

Ohio is coming off a 92-74 loss to Columbia Sunday in the Convocation Center in Athens. Columbia dominated on the glass, 49-24; they converted 23 offensive rebounds into a 30-13 advantage in second-chance points. Columbia shot 26-30 from the free throw line, while Ohio went 11-18 from the charity stripe.

The Bobcats were led by Bello Ranallo with 18 points. Asiah Baxter finished with 16 and Aliah McWhorter added 10 points.

  • In their win Friday at Bellarmine, Morehead State won the battle on the glass, 45-34. Offensive rebounds were even at nine for each team. MSU held a 9-7 advantage in second chance points.
  • Morehead State was dominant in the paint, outscoring the Knights 40-20.
  • Morehead State committed 19 turnovers to 22 for Bellarmine. MSU was able to parlay that edge to a 25-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
  • The Eagles assisted on 17 of their 28 made field goals. Forbes and Toffali led Morehead State in that category as well with four helpers apiece.
  • After hitting just 9-16 from the free throw line in the opener at Kentucky, the Eagles turned it around at Bellarmine by hitting 20 of their 24 attempts at the charity line. Laura Toffali led the way, hitting seven of her nine tries. Marie Sepp hit five of six.
  • Sepp and Toffali followed head coach Ashton Feldhaus to Morehead State from Missouri Western, where they posted a 20-10 record last season, earning a berth into the NCAA Division II tournament.
  • Sepp played at Albany for two seasons before matriculating to Missouri Western last season. She averaged 12 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season.
  • Forbes had a career night at Bellarmine last Friday: she set career highs in every statistical category except blocked shots, failing to record a block. She got her first career block in the season opener at Kentucky.
  • Toffali just missed tying her career high when she put up 20 at Bellarmine. She set her career high of 21 last March against Ft. Hays State playing for Missouri Western. She spent two seasons at Kennesaw State prior to her season at Missouri Western. In the 2023-24 season, she appeared in 30 games, making two starts, averaging nearly 21 minutes per game. She scored a season-high nine points twice, the last on January 13, 2024, against Jacksonville.
  • Morehead State had four players score in double figures Friday at Bellarmine. Along with Forbes and Toffali, Violet McNece added 13 and Marie Sepp chipped in 12.
  • Sepp opened the season with 21 points at Kentucky last Monday night. Friday, she was hampered by early foul trouble and was limited to just 16 minutes of action.
  • McNece has made a nice impression in her first week as an Eagle: she matched her career high in the opener at Kentucky with 15 points and followed that up with 13 in Bellarmine and pulled down five rebounds.
  • Senior Kate Dike is the only player from last year's team on the roster this season. She has scored nine points in each of the Eagles' two games so far this season. She appeared in 28 games last season making 23 starts. She averaged 4.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. She notched her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Tennessee Tech on January 30, 2025.
  • Spaniard Circe Rubio Remolar spent her first two seasons at Delaware State. She appeared in 28 games making 14 starts last season. She hit 47 of 96 field goal attempts (49%) last year. Set a career high with 13 points at Long Island on December 14, 2024. Pulled down a career high 17 rebounds at North Carolina Central January 13, 2025. Named MEAC All-Academic Team.
  • Josephine Enander spent her first year of college at Midland College (Tex.). She appeared in 30 games, making three starts, averaging 5.9 points and 2.1 assists per game. She shot 40% from the floor and went 18-22 (82%) from the free throw line. Enander posted a season-high 17 points against Western Texas College on January 27th.
  • Enander scored 13 points for Sweden in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket in their win August 2nd over Iceland, shooting 5-9 from the floor.
  • Junior Millie Pearson spent her first two collegiate years at Eastern Arizona JC. She appeared in 35 games last season, making 21 starts. She shot 46% from the floor averaging 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. Set a career high 22 points on 10 of 13 shooting from the floor against Community Christian on December 10 last season.
  • Anja Ekstrom appeared in 15 games last season as a sophomore at North Florida, making one start. In limited action, she hit 8-18 from three-point range (45%). She set season highs with 20 points and eight assists in the season opener against Trinity Baptist (11/6/24). She averaged 10.5 points at Western Wyoming CC in her first collegiate season.
