Davion Cunningham has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week and the Newcomer of the Week it was announced Monday by the OVC.
Cunningham opened the week last Friday against the host Buccaneers in the East Tennessee multi-team event in Johnson City, Tennessee, leading the Eagles with 21 points and four rebounds. He backed that up Saturday with 23 points and six boards in the Eagles' 83-80 victory over Louisiana-Monroe.
In the two games last week, Cunningham shot 11-29 (38%) from the field and hit 20 of his 26 free throw attempts for 77%.
Cunningham is leading Morehead State, scoring 12.3 points per game, and is also averaging 4.4 rebounds per game.
Cunningham and the Eagles get back to action Saturday when they travel to IU Indy. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET. The game can be heard on the Eagle Sports Network and can be seen on ESPN+.
