Morehead, Ky. -- The Eagle women's basketball team continues its home stand Wednesday when they host a pre-Thanksgiving matinee against old rival Eastern Kentucky in Johnson Arena.
The game can be heard on the Eagle Sports Network (flagship WIVY-96.3 FM) with Jason Blanton and Wes Holland on the call. It can also be seen on ESPN+ with Jared Stacy describing the action.
Morehead State is coming off a 78-64 win over USC-Upstate Saturday afternoon in their home opener. Senior
Kate Dike posted her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Laura Toffali led the MSU offensive tying her season-high with 20 points and
Violet McNece added 12.
Eastern Kentucky rolled over Midway 107-66 Saturday in Richmond. The Colonels had five players finish in double-digits scoring led Liz Freihofer with 27. The sophomore from Union, Kentucky, leads
EKU averaging 15.8 points per game and is second on the club averaging 6.2 rebounds per game.Â

NOTABLE
- Morehead State got off to a fast start Saturday against USC-Upstate, leading 31-20 at the half. The Eagles blistered the nets in the second quarter hitting 67% (10-15) from the floor. MSU ended the game hitting 38% (24-64) from the floor.
- Morehead State capitalized on defensive pressure against Upstate Saturday, forcing 22 turnovers while committing only 12 of their own (their season-low). The Eagles outscored the Spartans 23-8 in points off turnovers.
- Morehead State ranks second in the OVC with 47 made three-point field goals (9.4 per game). Violet McNece is second in the OVC averaging 2.6 made three-pointers per game.
- The Eagles are averaging 15.2 assists per game. MSU has assisted on 68% of their field goals this season. Marie Sepp leads the conference averaging 6.0 assists per set.
- Saturday's game against Upstate marked the first outing this season Sepp failed to post double figures in points. The senior from Talinn, Estonia posted a new career high 10 assists.
- Morehead State has been hot and cold at the free throw line so far this season. On the season, the Eagles are 59-95 (62%) from the line. In MSU's three losses (Kentucky, Ohio Louisville) they shot 21-48 (44%) from the line. In their two wins (Bellarmine, Upstate) Morehead State shot 38-47 (81%).
- Saturday against Upstate, the Eagles were very good at the charity stripe, making 18 of their 23 attempts. Kate Dike was 6-6, McNece was 4-4, Josephine Enander was 2-2 and Irene Fernandez Pavesio made her only attempt from the line.
- Laura Toffali has come up just short of matching her career high twice this season. She put up 20 points on Saturday against USC-Upstate and at Bellarmine on November 7. She just missed a double-double with nine rebounds at Bellarmine. Toffali's career high of 22 points was set last season when she was playing for coach Ashton Feldhaus at Western Missouri. She put up 21 points against Ft. Hays State on March 8.
- Toffali swiped five steals Saturday against Upstate, giving 14 on the season. Averaging 2.8 thefts per outing, she ranks second in the OVC.
- Toffali leads MSU averaging 5.8 rebounds per game. That ranks 13th in the OVC.
- Kate Dike recorded her first double-double of the season (and the second of her career) when she posted a new career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds Saturday against USC-Upstate. She recorded his first career double-double last January 30 against Tennessee Tech when she posted 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Dike ranks second on the club averaging 5.4 rebounds per game. That ranks 15th in the OVC.
- Morehead State welcomes back Greg Todd who is in his third season as the head coach of the Colonels. Todd coached Morehead State for seven seasons, posting a record of 105-206 and 60-61 in OVC play. Two of his Eagle squads appeared in the WNIT (2017, 2019).
