Men's Hoops Adds Indiana State Transfer Josiah LeGree

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Josiah LeGree, who possesses a high basketball IQ and a solid work ethic with an outstanding scholastic resume too, has transferred to Morehead State Men's Basketball after his first collegiate season at Missouri Valley Conference school Indiana State.

LeGree is a 6-foot point guard from Baltimore, Md.

"We are very excited to add Josiah LeGree to our program. Josiah is dynamic guard who can make plays off the bounce for himself and his teammates," said head coach Jonathan Mattox. "His ability to make plays in space and in ball screens is something we were really looking for in the recruiting process. Josiah is a great addition for us." 

LeGree appeared in 28 games for the Sycamores in 2024-25, with a pair of starts. He averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 assists in approximately 13 minutes per game. He ranked second on the team with his 64 assists. LeGree hit 71 percent from the free throw line. LeGree put forth a pair of double-figure scoring efforts with 14 versus Iona and 11 versus Murray State. He also had two games with six assists.

LeGree graduated from St. Frances High School in Baltimore after playing previously at Parkville (Md.) High School. He was the Baltimore Catholic League Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2024 and All First-Team as well in 2024.

He was a Baltimore Sun Player of the Week in 2023 and 2024 and the Richard Hamilton Showcase MVP for 2023. Prior to his time at St. Frances, he was part of a 4A State Championship team with Parkville HS in 2023

Other honors included First-Team All Metro (2023 & 2024), First-Team All County (2023), First-Team All Division (2023), Second-Team All State (2023)  and Second-Team All County (2022).

He was a multiple-time honor roll student-athlete with his GPA better than 3.5.
