Hargan Named OVC Offensive Player of the Week

Morehead, Ky.-- Morehead State senior M.E. Hargan has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her play in Eagles' two matches against Xavier last week.

It is third week in a row that the Elizabethtown, Ky., native has earned the award and represents the first time in program history that a player has won the Offensive Player of the Week award in three consecutive weeks.

Last Thursday, in the Eagles' match against Xavier at home, Hargan posted 19 kills, posting a .255 hitting percentage and notched 12 digs for her 24^th career double-double. She backed that performance up Saturday in Cincinnati in the return trip of the home-and-home series with Xavier tying her season-high with 22 kills hitting .300. She also slammed two service aces in the match.

Over the series, she piled on 41 kills hitting .277. She had three aces, 21 digs, two blocks (both solo) and scored 46 points. She has 180 kills on the season, averaging 4.62 kills per set, both leading the OVC. Her 209 points (5.37 points per set) also tops the OVC.

Over her career, Hargan has notched 1,175 kills in 3,516 total attempts with a .186 hitting percentage. She ranks fifth in the modern era in kills and fourth in total attacks in program history.

Hargan and the Eagles return to action Friday when they open OVC play by hosting Southern Indiana. First serve Friday is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Johnson Arena.
