Forbes Named OVC Newcomer of the Week

Morehead, Ky.-- Morehead State's Landon Forbes has been selected the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for her play in the Eagles' wins last week over UT Martin and Southeast Missouri.
 
Forbes posted her first double-double of the season Thursday in MSU's 67-49 victory over UT Martin in Johnson Arena. She scored 16 points and set a new career-high with 10 rebounds. Forbes hit six of her 11 field goal attempts, including draining four of her eight three-point shots, while playing in her second-highest minutes total of the season.
 
The junior from Wichita, Kan., netted 15 points in the Eagles' 65-49 win over Southeast Missouri Saturday. Forbes was very efficient hitting four of six three-point shots and went four of six from the free throw line.
 
Forbes is averaging 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. Her 2.4 assists per game is second on the club and ranks tied for 14^th in the OVC. Her 25 steals this season is second-most on the team.
 
Forbes and the Eagles put their five-game winning streak on the like when they travel to middle Tennessee this week for a pair of conference games. MSU visits Tennessee State Thursday in Nashville. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET. Morehead State visits Tennessee Tech Saturday in Cookeville for a 2:00 p.m. ET, start.
