MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Even though she wasn't in the team lineup, Morehead State freshman women's golfer
Kenzie Federspiel shined as an individual, finishing seventh at the Lady Red Wolves Classic this week.
As a squad, the Eagles finished 10th of 13 teams, the fourth straight season MSU took part in this event hosted by Arkansas State. The course was Sage Meadows Country Club, playing par 72 and 6,164 yards.
Federspiel turned in a 68-75-69--212 in just her second career competition, her first two under-par rounds as well. Her -4 total is tied for the second best relative-to-par scorecard for all Eagle players since 2011-12, and her first-round -4 tied for sixth-best round in that timeframe.
"I am excited to have another player finish in the top 10," said head coach
Stephanie Barker. "Her game has been trending in the right direction, and she is the first Eagle to have the most birdies in a collegiate event, ever. It was a solid showing as a team overall against a very strong field. Sage Meadows is a course where a few people on your team need to go low in order to compete for the win."
For the team total, sophomore
Morgan Kennedy topped the effort with a 72-72-76--220 and was 31st. Sophomore
Margaret Ulrich (76-72-75--223, 43rd), junior
Meri Illamola (74-77-73--24, 48th), junior
Kerri-Anne Cook (76-79-73--228, 58th) and senior
Isabella Wiley (81-76-72--229, 61st) rounded out the lineup.
Freshman
Tepan Ngamkerdsiri (77-79-78--234, 71st) also played as an individual.
This wrapped up the fall portion of the 2026-27 schedule, and MSU will return to the course February 19-21 at the 24th annual Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.
