MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Rifle will head south for its first road matchup of 2026-27 Saturday when the Eagles shoot at Jacksonville State.
The Eagles had two resounding wins last weekend at home in the season debut, defeating Mount Aloysius (Pa.) twice. Jacksonville State will be in competition for the first time this year Saturday. The Eagles will literally shoot for the program's first win in Alabama since the 2022-23 season.
"We are looking forward to our first road trip and see how we stack up against an always-tough Jacksonville State program," said head coach
Alan Joseph. "We had a great debut at home last weekend, and I am looking for continued improvement and consistency Saturday."
In last weekend's wins, junior
Trey Myers emerged as MSU's top shooter early on. He led the team in Air Rifle (593.0), Smallbore (582.0) and aggregate (1175.0) average. Freshman
Ysabelle Martinez had a dazzling college debut as well, leading the team with a 585 Smallbore on Sunday and tying Myers for the Air Rifle high-water team mark at 593. Junior
Chloe Shannon ranks third in the unit for aggregate at 1165.5.
MSU's 4,689 total on Sunday ranked among the program's top three team scores in program history.
Jacksonville State and Morehead State battled in the Ohio Valley Conference for several seasons before the Gamecocks departed after the 2020 season.
