Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State volleyball/beach volleyball student-athlete Sydney Sennett has been named one of the six Ohio Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Award winners for 2026-27. The award is the highest individual honor conferred upon student-athletes at OVC institutions.

"I'm incredibly honored and grateful to receive the OVC Scholar-Athlete Award," said Sennett. "I take a lot of pride in working hard, staying committed to my goals, and representing my school, and it means so much to have those efforts recognized."

With two weekend series left in the regular season, Sennett has compiled 2,453 assists in her Eagle career, ranking third in the Morehead State record book for the modern era (2008-present), and
ninth all-time in program history. Sennett has been a fixture in her four seasons in the Eagle Volleyball program. She has appeared in 114 of the 118 matches and 389 of the 423 sets MSU has played during her time at MSU.

Last season, Sennett was a First Team All-OVC selection after posting 1,089 assists, which ranks as the eighth-most in a season in program history in the modern era. Last Spring, she appeared in every match in the 5's pair.

Sennett has excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.841 grade point average in strategic communications, and is scheduled to graduate in December after three and a half years at Morehead State.  She earned the OVC Academic Medal of Honor last year and is a three-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll inductee.

"Sydney is incredibly deserving of the Scholar-Athlete Award. She embodies what it means to be a student-athlete, excelling on the court, in the classroom, and in the community," said Morehead State head coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride.

"Maintaining a 3.8 GPA while competing in two sports, completing multiple internships, and helping lead her team to an NCAA Tournament appearance and an OVC Championship are all impressive accomplishments individually. The fact that Sydney has managed to accomplish all of them speaks to her work ethic, commitment, and ability to excel in every facet of life as a student-athlete," added Becker-McBride.

Sennett is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and has 50-plus hours of volunteer activities at MSU sporting events, in addition to helping with numerous community events, including Read Across America, the Boys and Girls Club and God's Pantry Food Bank.

"Sydney is an outstanding representative of Morehead State Volleyball, Morehead State Athletics, and the Ohio Valley Conference, and someone who makes any Eagle proud," said Becker-McBride.

Sennett is the 36th Morehead State student-athlete to be named an OVC Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
