Soccer Begins Third Spring Season Under Cox

3/1/2026 3:14:00 AM

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State women's soccer team began spring practice on January 21 in preparation for a non-traditional schedule that begins on Sunday, Mar. 1 and includes five games.

The Eagles return 18 players from the fall and added four transfers at the semester break.

For the most part, the weather has allowed the team to practice outside, and second-year coach Paul Cox likes what he has seen from his troops.

"Spring has been a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. We've had the best fitness scores since I've been here. We've also got the best culture since I've been here. There's massive buy-in from the girls and they all want each other to succeed," he said. "We've added four quality players who have improved us with what we lost."

All five of the Eagles' games will be at home.

MSU will meet Miami (Ohio) in the first spring contest on Sunday at 2 p.m. From there, the Blue and Gold will entertain the University of Charleston (W.Va.) on Saturday, Mar. 14, both Bellarmine and Cincinnati on Saturday, Mar. 28, before concluding the stretch by hosting Pikeville on Saturday, Apr. 11.

Game times for the final four outings have not been set.
