MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Seamus Bogan turns in a record breaking finish of 66-69-69--204 (-12) to sweep the competition and secure his first career first place finish in the Jackrabbit Invitational. Bogan was six strokes ahead of the next closest competitor, winning by a significant margin.

The tournament took place in Boulder City, Nv., over the par-72, 7,300-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club course. The Eagles were one of 11 teams that competed, posting a final score of 293-294-286—873 and finishing 8th in the tournament. South Dakota State (host team) came out victorious, shooting 17 below par. The final day (round three) was the Eagles best day, shooting two under par.

Sophomore Seamus Bogan put together a top-5 round in the past 15 years of Morehead State golf, shooting six under par in the first round and leading the tournament from the very beginning. Bogan's first place finish is the first time an Eagle has finished first since Joe Muschong won the OVC Championship in 2022. Bogan's score of 12 under par is the second best performance in the past 15 years, the best since Logan Hogge shot 14 under par in the Austin Peay Intercollegiate in 2014.

Bogan had recently been named OVC Golfer of the Month in February after two top-10 finishes, he now adds a first place finish to his arsenal. Bogan has now finished top-10 in three tournaments this season, and has now finished top-10 in all three tournaments this Spring.

"The course was in very good condition and the greens were the best greens we've played on all year," said Bogan. "My putter was the best part of my game all week. Desert golf is my favorite kind of golf and I think that was a big part of how well I played this week."

Bogan also outlined his excitement for the support group he had stating, "Everything came together for one tournament, and I'm so happy my parents were there to watch and how much my teammates were pulling for me as well."

Senior Logan McCormick's best round was early in round one, dropping in four birdies. Junior Remy Stalcup dropped in an eagle in round two. Sophomore Gavin Augenstein carded his second best performance of the season, shooting below par in both round two and three. Senior Logan Liles also had a solid round three, shooting even or better on 17 of the 18 holes.

Seamus Bogan (66-69-69—204) led the Eagles, finishing first in the tournament. Augenstein finished t-24th, carding a 77-71-70--218. Liles (75-77-71--223) finished t-40th. McCormick (75-77-76-228) and Stalcup (77-77-78—232) also competed.
