MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The results were completely flipped in terms of which Eagle pairs claimed decisions, but in the end host Wingate (N.C.) came out on top of the Morehead State Beach Volleyball team 3-2 in both matches of a double dual in North Carolina Wednesday afternoon.Â
In the opening match, MSU won pairs four and five and dropped the first two. In the second match, the Eagles won the top two pairs but fell in the other three to drop the 3-2 decision. The Eagles fell to 1-5, while the Bulldogs moved to 3-3.
In the opener,
Sydney Sennett and
Landyn Snowden persevered for a 21-17, 14-21, 15-13 victory at No. 4. On court five,
Addie Freed and
Riley McCloskey took care of their foes in straight sets, albeit in a tight battle, 21-19, 22-20.
In the first two pairs,

Shea Hefner (No. 2) each rallied from down a set to force the third before falling.
On the bright side,

In the nightcap, it was Marita/Heath and Hargan/Hefner who scooped up the triumphs for their team. At No. 1, Heath and Marita rallied from a 21-17 deficit in set one to win 21-14, 16-14. On court two, Hefner and Hargan topped their opponents 21-18, 21-14.
