Eagle Baseball on the Road Again to Battle Butler Bulldogs

Morehead, Ky. -- Morehead State Baseball continues its long road swing this weekend as the Eagles travel to central Indiana to take on the Butler Bulldogs. The schedule and venue have changed due to adverse weather expected to move through the area this weekend.
 
The series will be moved to Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana, north of Indianapolis. Friday is scheduled for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET. Saturday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET, first pitch and the series will close out Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.  
 
Morehead State is looking to maintain its momentum after a 13-5 win at Louisville Tuesday. Junior infielder Jaden Correa led the Eagle offensive attack going 4-4 at the plate with two home runs, four runs batted in and scored three runs. Redshirt junior Carter Owens picked up the win out of the bullpen throwing 3.1 innings. He gave up one run on two hits with three walks and struck out one Cardinal batter.

  • Morehead State ranks fourth in the OVC posting a .284 team batting average. The Eagles' 17 home runs are the most in the OVC.
  • The Eagles' 198 total bases are the third-most in the conference.

  • Sophomore infielder Aubrey Kearns leads Morehead State hitting .404 this season. He has posted a 1.132 OPS.

  • Junior infielder Jaden Correa heads into the weekend hitting .385 (15-39). Correa was a one-man wrecking crew in Morehead State's 13-5 win at Louisville. He went 4-4 with a walk in five plate appearances, with two home runs and a walk. He posted four RBI and scored three runs.
  • Junior outfielder Davis Germann goes into the weekend riding a seven-game hitting streak, the longest current streak on the club. He has reached base safely in the last 10 games.
  • Freshman outfielder Kyle Krupp has gotten off to a fast start in his collegiate career. He ranks third on the club hitting .343. Krupp has been especially busy on the base paths, stealing eight bases in 13 attempts.
  • Freshman Luke Hayes has been solid in the first weeks of his collegiate career. He's picked up two wins (Feb. 17 at Kentucky and March 1 at Southern), both out of the bullpen. He's thrown 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just one hit while walking four and recording six punchouts.  He's held opponents to a .056 batting average.
  • Hayes threw three innings to close out the Eagles 8-7 win at Southern Sunday. He allowed just one walk and struck out three Jaguar batters to pick up the win.
  • Junior Devin Costa has been effective out of the bullpen for MSU picking up two saves. In eight innings pitched, over five appearances, he walked two batters and recorded six strikeouts. He's posted a 1.22 WHIP so far this season.
