The Carpenter-Chaney Classic Set To Showcase Three-Team Battle

4/10/2026 12:12:00 PM

Morehead, Ky. -- The Morehead State Men's Golf Team will be competing at and co-hosting (UT Martin) the Carpenter-Chaney Classic, in Paris, Ky, on Apr. 11.

The match play styled tournament is set to begin around 8 a.m. EST. Morehead State's Blue team will take on UT Martin, and Morehead State's Gold team will take on Bellarmine. There will be championship and consolation matches following the first rounds completion.

"This is always a special event for us because it has the Chaney name on it", said Head Coach Matthew Martin

"It was very special to have Coach Chaney and his family there for the 2023 version in Florida." he continued, "This year, I am excited because we have all 10 guys competing. I also love match play. This is where it's all about performing for the team. Houston Oaks is in great shape, and it will provide a good test for us as we continue our preparation for the OVC Championship."

The Eagles are coming off a tenth-place finish in the Racer Intercollegiate earlier this week. Morehead State was one of 15 schools competing in the tournament, resulting in a first-place finish for Chattanooga. Chattanooga shot an astonishing 19 strokes under par, finishing 20 strokes ahead of the next closest team. Sophomore Gavin Augenstein led the Eagles, shooting two over par and finishing tied for 22nd
