RESULTS (LIN | CHATT)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball wrapped up the final Ohio Valley Conference weekend by celebrating its senior class Saturday evening as the Eagles fell to Lindenwood 3-0 earlier in the day and to Chattanooga 5-0, at Giovanni's Breadstick Beach, to end the weekend.
Morehead State concluded the regular season 8-17 overall and 4-6 in league matches, setting it as the No. 4 seed in this week's OVC Tournament at UT Martin. MSU's first match will be Thursday at 11 a.m. ET against the fifth seed Eastern Illinois. MSU defeated the Panthers 3-2 on Friday and 4-1 earlier this season.
Despite the 3-0 setback to the Lions from Lindenwood, MSU battled tough at the No. 5 spot.
Logan Smith and
Sydney Sennett won their opening set 21-13 but then succumbed 21-16 and 15-13.
Sarah Heath and
Shea Hefner won their first set 21-18 at No. 2 and were tied 3-3 whe the match was halted at decision.
The Eagles did capture a victory in the No. 6 exhibition as
Lily-Kate Carver and
Tinsley Brown prevailed 21-14, 21-8.
Against the No. 1 seed Chattanooga Mocs, MSU fought until the final point. Heath and Hefner were the final match playing on court two and took the Mocs to three sets but fell 21-19, 16-21, 7-15. Chattanooga claimed the other four decisions in straight sets. At No. 6
Bailey Brashear and
Cady Hatch won their first set 21-19 and dropped the second 21-19 before halting the action.
