Morehead, Ky.-- The Morehead State volleyball team will open its 2026 fall campaign in Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, August 28-30.
Â
The pre-conference slate figures to be challenging: four of the Eagles' opponents finished in the top 100 in RPI last season. Tennessee ended the season ranked 25
th, Cincinnati was 53
rd, Michigan State was 71
st and Colgate ended up 98
th in the final rankings. Morehead State finished its 2026 campaign 93

Â
The Eagles will open with a match against Fairfield on Friday, August 28 and then take on the host Tennessee Volunteers on the 29
th. MSU will wrap up the weekend against Colgate on the 30

Â
"We're excited to take on a challenging non-conference schedule this season. Opening the year at Tennessee will be a great test for our team, and it will be a special opportunity for
Tinsley Brown to play in her hometown of Knoxville," said Morehead State head coach
Kyrsten Becker-McBride. "Everyone realizes how good Tennessee is, but Colgate is a top 100 team that returns their conference player of the year, and Fairfield finished just outside the top 100.  Opening weekend is going to be a battle for everyone involved."
Â
Morehead State will make its home debut with a three-team round-robin with Cincinnati on September 10. The Bearcats will then take on Michigan State in Johnson Arena on the 11
th in the first-ever Big Ten-Big XII matchup held in Morehead. The Eagles will wrap up the weekend taking on the Spartans on the 12
th.
Â
"We're also thrilled to bring Cincinnati and Michigan State to Morehead," added Becker-McBride. "The last time we hosted a Big Ten opponent was during my first season here in 2011, so it's exciting to have a program like Michigan State on our home court. It's always fun for our fans and community to see nationally recognized programs come to Johnson Arena. Cincinnati will be a battle as well, and it adds another layer of excitement with a few players on our roster coming from the Cincinnati area."
Â
After a home-and-home series against nearby rival Marshall on September 18-19, the Eagles will break into Ohio Valley Conference play hosting Lindenwood September 25-26 in Johnson Arena.
Â
Morehead State wraps up the regular season with a pair of matches against Western Illinois November 12-13 at home in Johnson Arena.
Â
"We will have a lot of youth on our roster this season, but we also bring back significant experience," said Becker-McBride. "This schedule is difficult but provides great opportunities for our team to compete against quality opponents and prepare for conference play."
Â
The Ohio Valley Conference tournament is slated for November 22-24 at the site of the regular season champions.
