Morehead, Ky.-- The Morehead State volleyball team hits the road for the second straight weekend to kick off the 2026 season as it travels to Erie, Pa., for the Mercyhurst Invitational, Presented by Scott Enterprises.
The Eagles will take on the host Mercyhurst Friday at 1:00 p.m. ET on the Owen McCormick Court at the Mercyhurst Athletic Complex. The Eagles have a quick turnaround when they take on Cleveland State Friday at 4:30 p.m. Morehead State caps the event Saturday when the Eagles square off with Siena. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET. All three matches can be watched on the NEC Front Row Network; links are on the volleyball schedule page on msueagles.com.

NOTABLES
- Morehead State head coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride is in her fourth season as head coach and her 16th season with the program. She has a record of 60-39 overall and a 38-16 conference record. She has guided her team to the OVC tournament finals twice and a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
- Morehead State led the Ohio Valley Conference averaging 13.77 kills per set last season. OVC Player of the Year M.E. Hargan led the way with 493 terminations, averaging 4.61 per set.
- The Eagles also topped the OVC with 193 service aces averaging 1.80 aces per set. Amelia Nott smacked 44 aces, averaging 0.41 aces per set. She ranked third in the OVC last fall, and that tally is tied for second-most in the program history in the modern era.
- MSU paced the OVC last season allowing a league-low 1.36 opponent aces per set.
- Morehead State's .250 hitting percentage also led the OVC last fall. Nott led the Eagles with a .350 attack percentage, which was the second highest in the OVC and the seventh-highest efficiency in program history. Nott was selected to the All-OVC Second Team.
- Nott's name dots the MSU record book in several categories for the modern era: her 120 career aces are second-most in the program, her 266 block assists and 298 total blocks both rank seventh. Her .287 career hitting percentage is second only Irene Wogenstahl, who posted a career .291 hitting percentage from 2020-24.
- Senior setter Sydney Sennett was an All-OVC First Team selection last season after posting 1,089 assists in the 2025 campaign, which ranks as the eighth-highest season total in the modern era at MSU. Her 10.18 assists per set rate ranked second in the Ohio Valley Conference.
- Sennett has 2,087 career assists, which ranks eighth in program history for the modern, 25-point rally scoring era.
- Senior outside hitter Hollan Everett was an All-OVC Second Team selection in 2025. She was second on the team last season with 335 kills, averaging 3.13 kills per set, which ranked 10th in the OVC last season. Everett also ranked 10th in the OVC averaging 3.52 points per set.
- Everett tallied 62 total blocks last season. Her 21 block solos led MSU and tied for 10th-most in the modern era. She has 39 career block solos, sixth-most in the modern era in program history.
- Freshman Ella Warrick made an immediate impact in her Morehead State debut last weekend. In the season opener versus Fairfield, she posted a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs and added a match-high four aces. In the weekend finale Sunday, she posted another double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs.
- Freshman Haiden Carter also made an impression in her Eagle debut: Friday against Fairfield, she led MSU with five total blocks and added seven kills with a .375 attack efficiency. Sunday against Colgate she again led MSU with five total blocks.
- Senior Courtney Fitzgerald joined the 1,000-dig club last weekend against Fairfield. She became the 30th Eagle to amass over 1,000 digs
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
- Mercyhurst opened the season in Youngstown, Ohio last weekend. The Lakers were swept by the host Youngstown State in their season opener Friday. In the nightcap Friday night, the Lakers outlasted Canisius in five sets. Mercyhurst wrapped up the opening weekend of the season falling in a sweep to Duquesne.
- Mercyhurst posted a 12-18 record in 2025 and went 10-6 in the Northeast Conference. The Lakers were bounced out of the NEC Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Long Island in the first round.
- The Lakers were picked to finish third in the Northeast Conference standings in preseason coaches' poll. Head coach Ryan Patton is in his 22nd season at Mercyhurst.
- Grad student Julia Shepherd returns for Mercyhurst after leading the Lakers with 270 kills averaging 2.60 kills per set, and posted a .272 hitting percentage, all in the top 10 in the NEC last season. She ranked second on the team with 74 total blocks. Last Friday in the Lakers' win over Canisius, Shepherd posted 15 kills hitting .400 and added five total blocks.
- Senior outside Roslyn Guerra returns as well. The San Antonio native and Texas- Rio Grand Valley transfer ranked third on the squad with 173 kills in 2025. Guerra led the Lakers in Friday's win over Canisius with 16 kills and posteed a .243 attack efficiency.
- Redshirt freshman middle blocker Ava Carney played in one set last season and received a medical redshirt. She posted 13 kills in the Lakers' win over Canisius with a .500 hitting percentage and three total blocks
- Senior middle Mia Mattingly finished ranked third on the team last season with 60 total blocks and tied for team honors with nine block solos. She led the team with a .316 hitting percentage.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
- Cleveland State opened the season last weekend with a tournament at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. The Vikings opened the tournament Friday with a 3-0 sweep over Morgan State. Friday evening, Cleveland State was swept by the host Lehigh. The Vikings wrapped up the weekend with a sweep over Gardner-Webb.
- Sophomore Bryn VanVleet led the Vikings over the opening weekend in the Lehigh tournament totaling 36 kills, averaging 4.0 kills per set and posting a .209 hitting percentage. Last season as a freshman, she appeared in 29 matches posting 276 kills averaging 2.97 kills per set.
- Freshman Addison Koppelman impressed in her first weekend of collegiate play: in the Vikings' season-opening win over Morgan State, she smacked 12 kills posting a .400 attack efficiency. She backed that up last Saturday in Cleveland State's win over Garner-Webb with 10 kills posting a .333 hitting percentage and registered three aces.
- Junior middle blocker Julia Jozefov posted 19 kills and a .395 hitting percentage last weekend. She is tied for the team lead with five total blocks.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
- Tyler Kanelos is in his second season at the helm of the Saints. Last season, Siena posted a 14-19 overall record and a 9-9 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and made its first postseason appearance since 2022.
- Turkish national right side Doga Diraz returns for her senior season after being an All-MAAC Second-Team selection last season. She led the club with 407 kills, averaging 3.31 kills per set and posting a .239 hitting percentage. She was third on the team with 78 total blocks and added 25 service aces. In the opening weekend at the Central Connecticut State Tournament, she tallied 24 kills averaging 2.18 kills per set. She also posted nine total blocks averaging 0.82 blocks per set.
- Sophomore right side Mary Clare Deacy returns after being named to the All-MAAC Rookie Team in 2025. She posted 295 kills last season ranking third on the club. Her .305 hitting percentage led Sienna and ranked fifth in the MAAC.
- Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Brianna Miller smacked 31 kills last weekend in Connecticut averaging 2.58 kills per set. She also posted six service aces, which leads the club.
- Junior outside hitter Gabrielle Wire returns to the Saints' lineup after posting 325 kills in 2025, averaging 2.75 kills per set with a .179 attack efficiency. Last weekend at Central Connecticut, she tallied 28 kills with a .273 hitting percentage.

- Amelia Nott needs just two blocks to reach the 300 mark for her career. She is 34 block assists shy of 300.
- Nott is 29 kills shy of 700 career terminations.
- Hollan Everett needs 16 kills to hit the 900 mark for her career.
- Everett is 14.5 points shy of 1,000 in her career.
