Jeremy Groves

Jeremy Groves is in his fourth season on the soccer coaching staff at Morehead State. He assists with all aspects of the soccer program, including recruiting, scouting, and game preparation.

In his first year, he helped the Eagles win their second straight OVC regular season title and helped lead MSU to its second NCAA Tournament appearance.

This season, the Eagles won eight of their last 11 regular season matches and advanced to the OVC Tournament as the no. 2 seed. MSU defeated Austin Peay 4-2 in the semifinal, before knocking off defending champion UT Martin 1-0 on its home field to give the program its second title during Groves' tenure.

Groves joined Morehead State with experience as an assistant coach at the University of Kentucky and as head coach of the Commonwealth Soccer Club in Lexington, Ky., and has experience in the Olympic Development Program.

Groves was a four-year assistant at Kentucky, where in his first year he helped Warren Lipka, then the head coach at UK, lead the Wildcats to a SEC Championship. Groves has also developed two men’s players now playing in Major League Soccer (MLS): Jason Griffiths (New England) and Barry Rice (DC United).

Prior to being an assistant at Kentucky, Groves was helping with the Olympic Soccer Development Program where he oversaw tryouts and selected players for teams. He also was responsible for on-the-field training and game management.

Groves, a Leeds, England, native played collegiately for Kentucky where he was a member of the 2003-04 Mid-American Conference Championship team. He also represented British Universities in the World University Games in Greece in 2005.

Groves received his bachelor of arts in Kinesiology from the University of Kentucky in August of 2005 and is currently working on his Masters of Science in Teaching, Coaching, and Sports Leadership. Groves has his Football Association of England, junior level coaching licenses which is equivalent to a United States Soccer Federation C license. He is married to Melissa Groves.
