Redshirt sophomore pitcher Craig Pearcy of the baseball team has been named this week’s Male Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.

Pearcy came up clutch in a pair of MSU wins last week, tossing five innings against Tennessee Tech and Murray State to record wins in both games. In the Murray State game, he entered the contest in the seventh and pitched all the way through to the 12th, striking out seven batters while allowing only one hit and no earned runs.

He got the win over preseason favorite Tech on Saturday, tossing five complete innings and recording eight strikeouts while MSU rallied for a 9-8, 10-inning victory. He now leads the pitching staff with a 2.29 ERA and a 2-1 mark.

It is his first honor of the season.
