MOREHEAD, Ky
. – Goals from Lauren Seebach and Erin Adams propelled the Morehead State soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Jacksonville State Friday night. The win improves the Eagles’ record to 5-6-1 and 2-0-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Jacksonville State falls to 6-7-0 and 0-3-0 in conference play.

MSU got on the board in just the second minute when a cross from Bethany Davidson connected with the head of Seebach who nudged it past Gamecocks goalkeeper Ali Koenig. It was the senior defender’s first goal of her career.

JSU got back into the match in the 26th minutes when MSU goalkeeper Lily Meisner mishandled a back pass, and the ball landed right at the feet of JSU’s Nicole Vickery who calmly buried it into the open net.

MSU appeared to have the lead back in hand in the 48th minute when a string of passes eventually freed sophomore striker Devan Jordan, who found herself one-on-one with Koenig. Jordan fired a shot past the charging keeper but just wide of the left post.

Twenty minutes later the Eagles did reclaim the lead as Erin Adams scored her first goal of the season. Courtney Moriarty played a cross into the box that Koenig could not get a fist to. The ball fell to a perfectly positioned Adams who headed into the back of the net to secure the MSU lead.

The Eagle defense made the 2-1 lead hold up as Meisner was rarely tested the rest of the way.

Meisner finished the match with four saves while Koenig recorded 6 stops. Morehead State outshot the Gamecocks 14-6 in the contest.

MSU next hits the road for another OVC contest against Tennessee Tech Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
