Clarksville, Tenn.
– Morehead State soccer pulled out a thrilling 2-1 come from behind victory over Austin Peay State Friday night. The Eagles scored twice in the final ten minutes to come back from a early 1-0 deficit.

Monique Wong put the Lady Govs in front when she beat MSU goalkeeper Lily Meisner with a shot from the right side of the penalty box just 25 seconds into the game.

The score remained 1-0 for much of the game as neither team was able to muster much offensive pressure.

Eagle sophomore Devan Jordan leveled the match when she fired an unstoppable shot into the upper corner of the net in the 81st minute. It was Jordan’s fifth goal of the season, which ties her for the team lead with fellow sophomore Jillian Birchmeier.

After returning from the early deficit, MSU would not settle for the tie. Courtney Moriarty put the Eagles in front when she scored her first goal of the season in the 89th minute. Erin Adams was credited with an assist on the game winner.

Meisner made three saves in the match and MSU fired 12 shots to APSU’s eight.

The Eagles move their record to 4-5-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. APSU falls to 1-8-1 and 0-1-0.

The Eagles return to action Sunday afternoon with a home battle against the Redbirds of Illinois State at Jayne Stadium. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
