All-Girl Cheer Squad Wins National Championship

ORLANDO, Fla.--Morehead State University's All-Girl Cheer squad won a national championship Saturday at the 2010 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships.

The Universal Cheerleaders Association-sponsored event was held at the Walt Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla.

It marks the seventh title for the All-Girl squad. Combined with the Co-Ed team the MSU cheer program has 26 all-time national championships. After finishing second for two straight years, the all-girl squad won its seven national title.

Memphis was second, followed by South Florida, Indiana and San Diego State. Minnesota was sixth while rounding out the top 10 were Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, Florida State and Rutgers.

The  all-girl cheerleading squad placed first in the country in their division in the qualifying round, which consisted of a cheer video and a one-and-a-half-minute video that demonstrated the team's stunts, pyramids, basket tosses and tumbling skills.
