MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State soccer team will host Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay on Friday Oct. 15 in Jayne Stadium for their first annual Kick For A Cure soccer match. With a donation to the American Cancer Society admission is free and Kick For A Cure t-shirts will be on sale for $10, all proceeds will benefit the ACS. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. On Sunday Oct. 17 the Eagles will then travel south to Jacksonville, Ala., to face the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 2 p.m.
The Morehead State Eagles (7-6-1, 4-0-1) will enter the game coming off a 3-0 victory over SEMO last Sunday and a 0-0 draw against EIU last Friday. The Eagles are alone in first place atop the OVC standings with 13 points, while Eastern Kentucky, SEMO, and UT Martin are all tied for second with nine points. The OVC point system allows a team to receive three points for a victory and one point for a tie. With a win on Friday the Eagles can clinch a tournament berth; this would mark the fifth straight year the Eagles have played in the post-season OVC tournament.
Up front the Eagles are led by senior forward
Erin Adams who has 11 goals in 14 games and is ranked 10th in the country in goals scored and 13th in goals per game (0.79); she leads the OVC in both categories. Fellow senior forward

Sarah Phillip, anchors a defense and mid-field that has done a tremendous job this season. In the Eagles last match against SEMO, the MSU defense held the Redhawks without one shot on goal. Between the pipes is senior goalkeeper
Lily Meisner who just posted her third straight shutout which is her fifth on the season.
Morehead State is unbeaten in seven of their last eight games and dating back to the last regular season match in 2008, the Eagles are unbeaten in 17 of their last 18 OVC matches. In his second season at MSU coach
Warren Lipka is unbeaten at 9-0-4 in regular season OVC matches.
The Austin Peay Governors (10-4-1, 2-2-1) come into the match off a 1-0 win over Jacksonville State last Friday. APSU is led by Tatiana Ariza who leads the team in goals with seven and Andy Quiceno who leads the team with seven assists. In net for the Governors is Carley Newman who has 37 saves and six shutouts. The Governors has shutout 11 opponents this season.
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks (3-11-1, 1-4-0) come into the match off a 1-0 loss at Austin Peay. The Gamecocks are led by Chelsea Pelleteir who has scored seven goals on the season. In goal for the Gamecocks is Ali Koenig who has notched 75 saves thus far.
The Eagles will travel to Richmond, Ky. to face OVC arch-rival Eastern Kentucky on Sunday Oct. 24, match time is slated for 1 p.m. This will mark the last OVC regular season match.
