Teater Ties For Fifth At Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.—Former Morehead State men’s golfer Josh Teater finished tied for fifth at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am, the best finish so far in his first full season as a PGA pro. The four-round event, which concluded Sunday, was played at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Teater carded a 274, shooting 70-67-68-69 in the round-by-round scores. He tied Paul Goydos and J.P. Hayes and won $226,300 in prize money. He also earned 100 FedEx Cup points.

Teater, who earned his pro card last fall, is the fourth different rookie to earn low rookie honors in the first five weeks of the 2010 PGA season. He has competed in four tournaments this season, making the cut in three of the four events. His previous highest finish prior to Sunday was a tie for 54th at the Farmers Insurance Open in Janaury.

A native of Lexington, Ky., Teater helped the Eagles claim the 1999 OVC Men’s Golf Championship with an All-Tournament performance. Teater turned pro after finishing his MSU career in 2001.
