MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Senior slugger
Drew Lee has been named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after having superb outings at the plate in four games last week.
The Mt. Sterling Native batted .550 (11-20), jacked five home runs, and drove in 14 RBIs as the Eagles defeated Marshall on Tuesday and then swept a three-game weekend set over rival Eastern Kentucky. Lee also scored 12 times, belted three doubles, and stole two bases on two attempts. Lee now has 17 home runs on the season and 61 RBIs.
Lee also broke the MSU career record for RBIs in Saturday’s second game, surpassing Kevin Matuszek’s 174 career RBIs. Lee now has driven in 181 RBIs in his excellent career, and has already broken the career marks for runs, hits, and total bases.
Lee is the second Eagle player to earn a National and OVC Player of the Week honor this season after
Cameron Flynn was named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Player of the Week and OVC Player of the Week during the last week of March.
Morehead State is back in action this weekend as they travel to Tennessee Tech for a three-game OVC series beginning with a Saturday double header at 2:00 p.m.
