MOREHEAD, Ky. - Former Morehead State women's basketball student-athlete Brittany Pittman has earned a roster spot on the Lexington (Ky.) Lightning, a women's semi-professional team in the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League.
Pittman, who set the NCAA Division I record for blocked shots in a season with 164 as a junior in 2008-09, tried out this week and was accepted. Pittman did not play for MSU this past season.
The WBCBL is a group of 57 semi-pro teams divided into 10 regions. The Lightning will be grouped with organizations from Toronto, Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit, and Flint, Mich.
The WBCBL season begins in May and concludes in late July.
