MOREHEAD, Ky. -
Morehead State's women's basketball squad will look to stay within striking distance of first place in the Ohio Valley Conference when they host Tennessee State Thursday, Jan. 27 at 5:15 p.m. EST.

The game is sponsored by Whitaker Bank and the MSU ROTC. Special ROTC items will be handed out to fans in attendance.

The Eagles, who are 14-6 in all games, are 7-2 in OVC games and are only a half-game behind leader Tennessee Tech, who is 7-1. TTU plays at preseason favorite Eastern Illinois Thursday night. MSU has already beaten Tech once this year as well. Tennessee State, who has lost to MSU once earlier this year, enters at 5-14 overall and 2-7 in the league race.

The Lady Tigers are paced by Meredith Stafford’s 11.1 points per game. She is the only TSU player in double figures as the Lady Tigers’ offense generates 56.4 points per outing. In the earlier game between these two teams, MSU rallied in the second half to pull out a 62-58 victory in Nashville.

The Eagles are fresh off another win in which they rallied in the second half. MSU trailed Eastern Kentucky by eight at the break Saturday but came back to win by 13, 69-56.

Senior guard Chynna Bozeman leads the Eagles with 18.2 points per game, while sophomore Ashar Harris is a force on the glass, averaging 11.8 rebounds to lead all OVC players. She now ranks sixth nationally in rebounds and tied for second nationally with 13 double-doubles. Harris ranks second on the team with 14.3 points per game as well.

MSU has been able to control the series history with TSU as they have won four straight and 15 of the last 17 meetings since 2000-01. In all, MSU is 19-4 against TSU in Morehead.

The Eagles will host Austin Peay next on Saturday at 5:07 p.m. EST.
