MOREHEAD, Ky. –
The Morehead State (6-5-3, 2-2-1 OVC) soccer team heads on the road for its final road trip of the regular season, as the Eagles travel to the Land of Lincoln to face Ohio Valley Conference foes SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois.

MSU first travels to Edwardsville, Ill., to battle the Cougars on Friday at 8 p.m. ET in Korte Stadium.  The Eagles then journey to Charleston, Ill., for a match against the Panthers on Sunday at Lakeside Soccer Field.  Match time is set for 2 p.m. ET.

MSU split a pair of tough home matches last weekend, defeating league-leading Southeast Missouri 2-1 on Friday evening on scores from senior midfielder Brittany Kiracofe and sophomore forward Lindsey Oettle.  The Eagles then fell to UT Martin 2-1 in overtime on Sunday afternoon.  Kiracofe scored her second goal of the weekend off of senior defender Stephanie Gildehaus’ corner in the third minute, but MSU was unable to hold on for the win.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Eagles and SIU Edwardsville.   MSU and Eastern Illinois will battle for the 18th time in the series, with the Panthers leading 10-5-2.  Last season, the Eagles tied EIU 0-0 in the regular season match-up, before defeating the Panthers 2-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament semifinal.

SIU Edwardsville (3-7-1, 1-3-0 OVC) is coming off four straight losses, including setbacks at Missouri (4-0) and Missouri State (3-2) last weekend.   Michelle Auer leads the Cougars with nine points (three goals, three assists) and Devon Thomas has eight points (two goals, four assists).  Between the posts for SIUE is Claire Lovercheck, who has started six of the Cougars’ 11 matches and owns a 1.60 goals against average.

Eastern Illinois (4-7-2, 3-1-0 OVC) has played one match in the month of October, defeating UT Martin 1-0 on Oct. 2. The Panthers are led by Kristin Germann with 10 points (four goals, two assists), while Ashley Eck and Jessie Morgan have each tallied one goal and one assist for three points.  Jessica Taldone has played in 12 of EIU’s 13 matches in goal, starting eight of them.  She also boasts an 86.4 save percentage.  The Panthers face Eastern Kentucky on Friday night before Sunday’s showdown with the Eagles.

Live video and stats will be available for Friday’s match at SIU Edwardsville, while live stats will be available for Sunday’s match versus EIU.   Both links will be available through MSUEagles.com. There will also be Twitter updates throughout the match via @moreheadsoccer.

Morehead State returns home for its final non-conference match of the season and lone match of the weekend against Longwood University on Sunday, Oct. 23.  Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET at Jayne Stadium.
