MOREHEAD, Ky. –
The Morehead State soccer team finishes up its regular season this weekend at Jayne Stadium, hosting Ohio Valley Conference matches against Murray State and Austin Peay.

On Friday, the Eagles will celebrate Senior Night as they battle the Racers at 7 p.m. ET.  Morehead State concludes its 2011 regular season schedule on Sunday when it faces Austin Peay.  Match time is slated for 1 p.m. ET.  The first 100 fans in attendance Friday night will receive a free seat cushion courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings and the first 100 fans attending Sunday's regular season finale will receive free Eagle athletics t-shirts.

While Sunday’s contest will be the final match at Jayne Stadium for the seven graduating seniors, Senior Night festivities will take place prior to Friday’s match versus Murray State.  The Eagles look to cap the stellar careers of seniors Katie Blevins, Devan Jordan, Stephanie Gildehaus, Brittany Kiracofe, Sarah Phillip, Jillian Birchmeier and Brittany MacLennan with a undefeated weekend.

Morehead State (7-7-3, 2-4-1 OVC) scored three goals for the first time since early September en route to defeating Longwood 3-2 in an exhilarating double-overtime match last Sunday.  Freshman midfielder Caity Fox scored her first goal of the season in the 103rd minute of the match off of a MacLennan throw-in to lead the Eagles to the win.  It was their first win since a 2-1 defeat of Southeast Missouri on Oct. 7th.   MacLennan and Birchmeier also notched goals for MSU in the victory.

This will be the 13th meeting between the Eagles and Murray State.  Most recently, Morehead State defeated the Racers last season 2-1 on goals from junior forward Sam Toepfer and then-senior forward Erin Adams.  Morehead State owns a 6-2-2 record against Austin Peay.  The Eagles overcame the Governors twice during the 2010 campaign, beating APSU in the regular season, 1-0, and then registering a 2-1 win in the OVC tournament championship match.

Murray State (6-7-3, 3-2-2 OVC) has not lost a match in its last five outings and is 4-1-1 in October, including two consecutive wins over OVC foes Eastern Illinois (3-0) and SIU Edwardsville (1-0) this past weekend.  Julie Mooney (eight goals, two assists) leads the Racers with 18 points, while Shauna Wicker (seven goals) also has 14 points.  Yi Du is in between the posts and has played in 14 matches for Murray State.  She owns a 1.21 goals-against average and has tallied five shutouts this season.

Austin Peay (9-6-1, 3-3-1 OVC) is on a two-match winning streak after victories over SIU Edwardsville (2-0) and Eastern Illinois (1-0) over the weekend.  Tatiana Ariza leads APSU with 37 points (15 goals, seven assists), while three other Governors have tallied 10 points or more.  Haylee Shoaff is in goal for Austin Peay and has only allowed 12 goals.  She owns a 0.90 goals-against average in 16 matches played.

Live stats will be available for both matches this weekend, along with live video available for Sunday’s match.  There will also be a live blog on www.MSUEagles.com and Twitter updates via @moreheadsoccer throughout both matches.

After this weekend’s slate of matches, Morehead State will await its OVC tournament fate, as the weekend results will decide which teams advance to the tournament.   The top six teams, excluding SIU Edwardsville, will make the tournament on Nov. 3-6.  The highest seeded team will host the event.
