ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Junior forward Ashar Harris recorded a season-high 21 points, but the Idaho Vandals proved to be too much for the Morehead State women's basketball team as IU defeated the Eagles 71-45 Saturday night in the consolation game of the New Mexico Thanksgiving Classic at The Pit.
MSU was held to only 23 percent from the floor as it fell to 1-5 on the year. The Vandals improve to 2-4.
Harris hit 9-of-10 from the free throw line and also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Senior guard Linda Dixon tallied 10 points and hauled in six rebounds.
Stacey Barr came off the bench to score a team-high 18, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, to lead Idaho. Genaeya Rogers netted 14, and Alyssa Charleston scored 12. Idaho hit 48 percent (24-of-50) from the field.
The Eagles trailed 37-25 at the half but only managed to hit 17 percent of their shots in the second half as they were outscored 34-20.
MSU fell behind 20-12 in the first 12 minutes, but an 8-2 run -- capped by a three-pointer by senior guard Courtney Lumpkin -- brought the Eagles back to within 22-20. However, Idaho closed the half on a 15-5 run.
The Vandals limited MSU to only six field goals in the second half and ran out to as much as a 27-point lead at one point.
The Eagles return home to host UAB on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. ET.
