KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Morehead State baseball team lost to Bradley, 13-4, Saturday morning at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in game two of the Tennessee Tournament.
The Braves' (5-5) five-run seventh inning, combined with five Eagle errors, dropped MSU to 1-10 on the season.
Both teams traded runs in the first inning. Morehead State scored ita run off a Taylor Davis ground-out which brought Travis Redmon home from third base. Bradley answered back with six more unanswered runs.
MSU struck again in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double by centerfielder Andrew Deeds, which brought the score to 6-2.
The last Eagle runs came in the eighth inning as pinch hitter Ryan Conner delivered an RBI single through the left side, and Davis launched an RBI double down the left field line, which drove in Conner from first base.
Eagle starter Trey Smith pitched 4.2 innings allowing seven runs, three of them earned, and struck out three. He left the game in the fifth inning and absorbed the loss.
Reliever Cody Gibson replaced Smith and ran into trouble in the top of the seventh inning allowing five hits and five earned runs.
Sophomore John Nasshan, the Braves' starter, tossed eight innings and earned the win. Third baseman Rob Elliot drove in three RBI and had two hits for the Braves.
Davis recorded two hits for the Eagles and right fielder Nick Duff continued to show off his hitting skills extending his hitting streak to eight games. Duff has a hit in each of his eight starts and also leads the team with a .367 batting average.
Morehead State takes the field Sunday in the finale of the Tennessee Tournament against host Tennessee. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. EST.
