OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University scored three times in the second half and defeated Morehead State 4-0 in soccer action Sunday afternoon at Miami Soccer Field.
Miami got on the board early in the first half as RedHawk Kelsey Dinges beat MSU senior goalkeeper
Katie Blevins in the 11th minute after her strike hit the inside left post and bounced in for the game’s first goal. Katy Dolesh was credited with the assist.
It remained 1-0 until the 62nd minute, when Kayla Zakrzewski found Jess Kodiak from the left flank and Kodiak one-timed the ball into the back of the net to move the score to 2-0. Emily Hyde put in the third Redhawk goal in the 73rd minute on a feed from Dinges, and Dolesh finished off the Miami scores five minutes later, putting in a penalty kick after a foul was called on senior defender

Miami outshot the Eagles 25-6 in the match, with 11 shots on goal. Blevins recorded seven saves in the match for the Eagles, while RedHawk goalkeeper Allison Norenberg had three. MSU Redshirt Freshman
Holly Tilley tallied three shots on the day, including one on goal.
The loss drops the Eagles’ record to 1-1-0 on the season. Miami improves to 2-0-0.
MSU will return to Morehead on Friday Aug. 26 for its home opener against Kent State in Jayne Stadium at 7 p.m.
