PINEVILLE, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's golf team finished right in the middle of the pack as the Eagles concluded the Wasioto Winds Fall Kickoff Invitational in sixth place among the 12 competing teams. The tournament was played this week at the par 72, 6,656-yard Wasioto Winds Golf Course.
Jared Flanery topped MSU's lineup with a 10th place individual showing. He carded a 215 (76-71-68). Sam Zirnheld came in next with a 13th place finish, turning in a 217 (69-73-75).
Dean Schneider finished in a tie for 25th with a 221 (76-71-74), while Matt Logan was 30th with a 222 (74-71-77). Freshman Jared Stacy rounded out MSU's lineup as he improved each round with a 235 (84-76-75).
Individually for the Eagles, Michael Pinsonneault finished 35th by carding a 223 (73-74-76). Tommy Carrico was 42nd with a 236 (76-72-78), and Ian Danis fashioned a 232 (74-80-78). Dylan Ramsey finished 66th with a 234 (78-79-77), and Brad Martin was 70th with an 241 (84-79-78).
Northern Kentucky finished with a three-round team score of 857 to win the event by four strokes over second place UT Martin. Southern Illinois was third, followed by Eastern Illinois, Bellarmine and Morehead State. Tennessee Tech (ninth) and Murray State (10th) were the other two OVC schools playing. EIU's David Lawrence was crowned individual medalist by scoring an eight-under-par 208.
The Eagles' next action is this weekend at the UK Bluegrass Invitational on Sept. 17-18 in Lexington, Ky.
