MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Looking to stay near the top of the Ohio Valley Conference standings and striving to keep up its success in conference road games, the Morehead State women’s basketball team travels to Tennessee State Thursday for an 8 p.m. ET contest at the Gentry Center.

The game can be heard live on Eagle Sports Network and on www.MSUEagles.com.

MSU enters the game at 7-10 overall but 4-1 in the OVC. The Lady Tigers are 6-12 overall and 2-4 in OVC match-ups. They have wins over Austin Peay at home and Jacksonville State on the road. The Eagles are 15-6 in OVC road games over the last two-plus seasons.

The Eagles defeated rival Eastern Kentucky 68-58 Saturday night for their second straight victory overall. Tennessee State fell 60-50 at home to SIU Edwardsville.

The Lady Tigers, coached by seventh-year bench boss Tracee Wells, are led by Jasmin Shuler and Tayla Foster. Shuler scores 14.3 points per outing and tops the team with 43 three-pointers. Foster averages 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. As a team, TSU collects 43 rebounds per game.

MSU continues to be paced by seniors Linda Dixon and Courtney Lumpkin. The duo combined for 59 of the Eagles’ 68 points Saturday against EKU. Dixon scores 14.5 points per game, while Lumpkin chips in 13.2. In OVC games though, Lumpkin has upped her production to 20 points per game.

Morehead State leads the series with TSU 30-16 and has won 10 of the last 12 games dating back to 2005-06. Last year’s two games were decided by a total of six points. The Eagles edged TSU 62-58 in Nashville and won 84-82 in Morehead when Lumpkin hit a game-winning layup as time expired.

The Eagles return home next week to begin a three-game home-stand, starting with a Monday match-up against defending OVC tournament champion UT Martin at 6 p.m. ET.
