Game notes heading into the contests:

Youth is Served
Morehead State is one of the youngest women’s basketball teams in the country this season. The Eagle roster has no seniors, four freshmen, five sophomores and five juniors. Among the third-year players, three have seen significant playing time.

Just Couldn’t Catch a Break
The Eagles were 10-19 last year, but they lost four overtime games and six contests by five points or less.

Pick-Pockets
Morehead State led the Ohio Valley Conference in steals in 2011-12, swiping 277 from its opponents to average 9.6 per game. The Eagles started this season in a similar fashion, recording 14 take-aways at Illinois State.

Outside the Arc
The Eagles were among the top teams in the conference in three-pointers last year. MSU drained 220 three-balls and ranked second in the league with 7.6 per game. MSU hit six triples in the opener at Illinois State.

We’re All In
All 13 players who dressed at Illinois State saw action in the game.

New to the Staff
Morehead State has added three new coaching staff members. Lacey Goldwire and Nikki Davis are new assistant coaches and Brandon Branham is the new director of operations.

Keeping Up With the Joneses
Sophomore guard Almesha Jones began her sophomore season just like she ended her first. Jones scored 15 points and led the team with four assists, four steals and four rebounds at Illinois State. She finished her first collegiate season on a strong note, averaging 11.2 points in her final 11 outings. That performance came after netting only 37 points in her first 18 games.

Mrs. Robinson
Junior guard Terrice Robinson led the Eagles in the exhibition game with 16 points.  The 5-6 native of Ft. Pierce, Fla., scored 31 points in her final two games last season.

Was Anyone Else Going to Score?
Terrice Robinson scored 11 of the Eagles’ first 15 points at Illinois State. She hit a trio of  three-pointers in a two-minute span and scored 11 of her team-high 16 points in the first eight minutes of the game.

Howe About Kailee
Freshman guard Kailee Howe scored six points in her collegiate debut at Illinois State. She averaged 16.8 points and 8.0 rebounds as a senior at Zanesville (Ohio) High School.
