Game notes heading into the contest:
Turnovers Equal Points
Morehead State has capitalized on 182 opponent miscues by turning them into 125 points, or 13.8 per game. The Eagles rank fourth in the OVC in forced turnovers.
We’ll Take That
The Eagles rank fourth in the OVC in steals per game (9.4) and have fivegames with double-digit swipes.
Still Looking For That Elusive Overtime Win
Morehead State dropped an overtime contest on Dec. 6 at Ohio. The Eagles have now dropped seven consecutive overtime battles in the last four seasons.
Life on the Road is Tough
The Eagles have lost nine of their last 10 road contests since last season.
We’re All In
All 12 active players have seen action this year, and MSU has six players averaging between 20 and 29 minutes per game.
Miss Robinson
Junior guard Terrice Robinson leads MSU and ranks fifth in the OVC in scoring at 16.2 points per game. She averaged 28.5 per outing in her last two, including a career-high 39-point showing at Ohio on Dec. 6. Robinson has reached double figures in seven of the Eagles’ nine games.
Elite Company
Terrice Robinson’s 39 points at Ohio were just two short of the school
record of 41 set by former Eagles Bev Smith and Amy Kieckbusch. To put it in perspective, Smith is in the MSU Athletic Hall of Fame, and Kieckbusch was the OVC Player of the Year in 1996-97. Robinson’s total also equaled former teammate and MSU all-time scoring leader Chynna Bozeman’s career-high. Bozeman’s retired jersey hangs in the rafters of MSU’s Johnson Arena.
Keeping Up With the Jones
Sophomore guard Almesha Jones registered a season-best 15 points against East Tennessee State and equaled that at Ohio on Dec. 6. A defensive stopper as well, Jones ranks third in the OVC in steals with 2.8 per game.
Don’t Leave Her Open
Sophomore forward Casey Ryans has hit eight of her 10 three-point attempts. She doesn’t have enough attempts to qualify in conference or national stats but would be leading both those categories. Ryans scored a career-high 13 points at Ohio Dec. 6.
Bring the Funder
Freshman guard Kelsey Funderburgh has also been efficient shooting the three-pointer where she has drilled eight of her 16 tries.
