MOREHEAD, Ky. – After dropping its Ohio Valley Conference opener at Eastern Kentucky last weekend, the Morehead State soccer team is back in action on Sunday when it travels to OVC newcomer Belmont for a 3 p.m. ET kick-off.
The Eagles are 0-8-1 overall and 0-1-0 in league play entering the OVC match-up, while Belmont sits at 4-4-0 overall and has its conference opener on Friday evening against Eastern Kentucky.
MATCH NOTES
• The Eagles fell 2-1 at Eastern Kentucky in their Ohio Valley Conference opener on Sunday. Freshman McKenzie Ward scored her first career goal in the contest, and five other players had shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd racked up five saves.
• MSU holds the edge over its opponents in shot percentage this season. The Eagles post a .539 SOG percentage while holding their opponents to .513.
• Morehead State has also earned 41 corner kicks, which is eight more than its opponents.
• Six different Eagles have scored in 2012. Sophomore Macy Cobb leads MSU with a pair, while Ward, sophomore Caity Fox and freshmen Kimberly Golden, Kelsey Gomez and Samantha Matherly have one apiece.
• MSU’s three assists on seven goals have been credited to three different Eagles. Sophomore Holly Tilley and Kimberly Borys and freshman Macy Kootz have one each.
• In 566 minutes played for the Eagles, Floyd has 26 saves and posts a 1.75 goals against average.
• Up next, the Eagles return to Jayne Stadium to host Tennessee Tech on Oct. 5, and Jacksonville State on Oct. 7.
