Soccer Set to Take on Marshall and Xavier

MOREHEAD, Ky.
– After concluding its first homestand at Jayne Stadium last weekend, the Eagles will start this weekend by hosting Marshall on Friday at 7 p.m. ET., and will close out the weekend on the road at Xavier on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.

A 1-0 loss to Ohio and a 2-2 (2OT) draw with St. Francis (Pa.) moved MSU to 0-4-1 on the season.

MATCH NOTES

• The Eagles went 0-1-1 last week in a homestand at Jayne Stadium. To start the weekend, MSU dropped a 1-0 decision to Ohio, and closed out the weekend with a 2-2 (2OT) draw with St. Francis (Pa.).

• MSU has proven to be more comfortable at home this season. In a pair of home matches, the Eagles have posted 32 shots with 16 of them on goal. In three road matches, the Eagles have 14 shots and eight on goal.

• Sophomore defender Macy Cobb has started all five matches for the Eagles and is MSU’s point leader with four (2g). Three other players have registered goals, including sophomore Caity Fox, who leads the team with 10 shots. The freshman pair of Kelsey Gomez and Kimberly Golden have the Eagles’ two other tallies. 

• Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd registered seven saves in her first two collegiate starts, and sports a 1.35 goals against average.

• Up next, the Eagles travel to Dayton, Ohio on Sept. 16 to face Wright State. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. ET.
