CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Morehead State soccer team allowed only two shots on goal, but yielded a goal in the 83rd minute to fall 1-0 to Eastern Illinois on Friday at Lakeside Field.

EIU's (3-9, 3-0) Meagan Radloff blocked a pass attempt from the back and chipped the ball over MSU's (2-8-1, 1-1) goalkeeper for the winner.

"Our team played hard," Head Coach Warren Lipka said. "We put a lot together, but the best team doesn't always win. Take nothing away from EIU. They got the win, but the name of the game is to score and we didn't do that today."

After the first 45 minutes, the Eagles held a 10-3 edge in shots and 5-0 shots-on-goal advantage.

Perhaps the best chance of the match for MSU came in the 56th minute when junior midfielder Elizabeth McSparin's header was cleared off the line and junior forward Macy Cobb's effort from just in front of goal skimmed the crossbar.

The Eagles outshot EIU 18-7, including a 9-2 edge on goal.

Freshman forward Angela Black, junior midfielder Holly Tilley and Cobb each took a team high three shots.

MSU returns to action on Sunday at SIU Edwardsville. The match will be carried by the OVC Digital Network and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET.
