HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --
The Morehead State baseball team moved to 3-1 on the season by splitting a doubleheader with Indiana State on Sunday afternoon at Joe Davis Stadium.  The weekend record was also good enough to claim the Alabama A&M Bulldog Classic title.

Morehead State posted a 6-5 win over Indiana State (2-2) in the first game. The Eagles led 4-2 in the eighth inning of game two before committing three errors and allowing five late runs to drop a 7-5 decision.

"Overall I felt it was a really good opening weekend for us," Head Coach Mike McGuire said. "Indiana State is a good program, and we went toe-to-toe with them all day. Mistakes cost us down the stretch in game two, but we were excited to come out of the weekend with the tournament title."

Senior lefty Garrick Whittle picked up the game-one win in relief, with senior right-hander Matt Duncan securing his first save of the season. Duncan set the MSU record for saves in a season last year with 13.

Freshman right-hander Matt Anderson was charged with the loss in game two.

Offensively, several Eagles had solid performances on the day. In game one senior shortstop Chase Greenwell registered two hits and knocked in two runs, and sophomore right fielder Brandon Rawe recorded two singles and an RBI of his own.

In game two, sophomore catcher Chris Robinson led the way with three hits. Senior center fielder Taylor Pickens had two hits and an RBI, while sophomore first baseman Kane Sweeney also picked up two hits.

The Eagles return to action next weekend when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., for a four-game series with Gardner-Webb.
