Women's Hoops Battles Murray State in Home Finale Monday

Junior guard Tyler Ituen
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- With just three regular season games remaining, the Morehead State women's basketball team will host Murray State Monday night in the 2012-13 home finale. Tipoff time is set for 6 p.m. ET.

Monday is Family Fun Night and MSU's attempt to break the Guiness Book of World Records mark for most beach balls in the air at one time. Tickets start at $1, and all fans will receive an MSU beach ball. The world-record attempt is set for halftime.

Morehead State (9-18/5-8 Ohio Valley Conference) needs to win at least two of its last three games for a chance to qualify for the OVC Tournament next week. Murray State (15-11/7-7 OVC) has not locked up a guaranteed spot either. The Eagles have won five of the last six meetings with the Racers, including four of the last five in Morehead.

Game notes heading into the contest:

Last Time Out
Junior guard Allie Turner exploded for a career-high 28 points on 8-of-10 from three-point range as the Eagles pulled away to defeat then-winless Jacksonville State, 68-54. Junior guard Tyler Ituen came off the bench for a career-best 11-rebound performance.

Free Throw Success
MSU is currently shooting 72.9 percent at the free throw line this season as a team. If that mark holds up, it would be the best team free throw accuracy since 2001-02 when that group of Eagles finished the year at 73.7 percent.

You Put Us at the Line, We’ll Knock Them Down
In the last five games, the Eagles are 60-of-67 from the free throw line. That’s 90 percent efficiency.

Downtown Bombers
The Eagles hit 7.6 triples per game to rank second in the OVC and 16th nationally. MSU averages more than 24 three-point attempts per game to rank second in the league behind only UT Martin. MSU has only five games with less than 20 three-pointers attempted and five with 30 or more launches from distance.

Over 200 Threes...Again
A staple of MSU’s offense - even with two separate head coaches in the last six years - has been three-point shooting. MSU has 205 triples this season, the sixth straight season the team has nailed at least 200 three-pointers.

That’s a Lot of 30s
Almesha Jones and Terrice Robinson have combined for five 30-point efforts this season, which gives MSU the most 30-point games in the OVC. It also marks the most MSU 30-point performances in a season since 2010-11.

Miss Robinson
Terrice Robinson leads MSU and ranks fourth in the OVC in scoring at 17.3 points per game. She has reached double figures in 23 of the Eagles’ 27 games. Robinson has scored 20 or more points nine times and 30 or more twice. She has led the team in the point column 16 times. In OVC games, Robinson averages 18.5 points.

The 400 Club
Terrice Robinson is just the 13th player in school history to reach the 400-point plateau for a season. She currently ranks 17th on the MSU season scoring list. In the OVC this year, she is among five players to score 400 or more.

Turning Heads
Junior guard Allie Turner scorched the nets for a career-high 28 points on Feb. 18 versus Jacksonville State. That included eight three-pointers as she fell just one shy of the school single-game record of nine held by former teammate Chynna Bozeman and 90s standout Sherita Joplin.

Now Thats a 10
In the last 10 games, Allie Turner has averaged 11 points per game and shot 51 percent overall (32-of-63) and 51 percent (27-of-53) from three-point range.
