Softball Set for Pair of OVC Road Doubleheaders

MOREHEAD, Ky.
– The Morehead State softball team returns to action this weekend with a pair of Ohio Valley Conference doubleheaders at Austin Peay and Murray State.

The Eagles, who sit at 13-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play, will travel to Clarksville, Tenn., to face the 10-16 and 1-7 Lady Govs on Saturday. MSU moves on to Murray, Ky., on Sunday for an in-state match up with the 12-18 and 5-4 Racers. Both doubleheaders are slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET.

In 2012, MSU went 1-2 against both APSU and Murray State. In the series with the Lady Govs, senior Anna Sommer went 4-for-9 with two RBI, while senior Adrena Anderson went 9-for 13 with a pair of RBI in the Murray State series.

GAME NOTES

• MSU is coming off a sweep of Northern Kentucky, 3-0 and 8-5, at University Field.
 
• As a team, the Eagles lead the OVC with a .309 batting average. Senior Elizabeth Wagner tops the individual list at .471 average and was ranked third in Division I as of March 31.
 
• The senior class has combined for 786 hits in its career, which includes a team-leading 169 for Kayla Ashbrook.
 
• Senior Amber Riddle set the MSU career home run mark with her 31st roundtripper in the NKU series.
 
• Wagner (.506 - 1st) and Riddle (.488 - 3rd) hold spots on the on-base percentage list in the conference rankings.
 
• Senior Katie Pfost has a team-leading seven wins this season, while junior Kelcey McMurray has registered a 2.94 ERA.
 
• The Eagles are 3-3 on the road this season, and hit .271.
 
• MSU is 39-28-1 all-time versus Austin Peay and 2-5 versus Murray State.
