Soccer Wraps Up Non-Conference Schedule at Appalachian State

MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Morehead State soccer team will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a road contest at Appalachian State.

MSU NOTES

• This week, the Morehead State soccer team travels to Boone, N.C., for its last non-conference test of the season with Southern Conference foe Appalachian State.

• Junior forward Jade Flory scored her team-leading third goal of the season in the loss at Louisville. Her three scores put her in a tie for fifth in the OVC.

• The Eagles enter this week as the Ohio Valley Conference leaders in corner kicks with 40. Two goals have come directly from corner kicks. MSU's eight goals and six assists are tied for fifth in the league.

• Through eight matches, the Eagles have faced three opponents who won their respective conference tournament or regular season championships. Ohio State is the defending Big Ten Tournament champion, while St. Francis (Pa.) claimed Northeast Conference regular season honors and West Virginia is defending Big 12 Tournament Champion.
 
•Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd made her first start of the season in the loss to Xavier. The Russell, Ky., native made one save, while facing four shots.

•The combined record of the first eight MSU opponents is 33-16-10. Only St. Francis (Pa.) has more than two losses.

PREVIEWING APPALACHIAN STATE

• Appalachian State has won two of its last three matches, but dropped a 2-1 (double-overtime) decision at High Point on Sunday, which marked the first win of the season for the Panthers.

• Samantha Childress has scored three goals to lead the Mountaineer attack. Her three tallies are tied for third in the Southern Conference.

•The Mountaineers return nine starters from a team that finished 10-8-2 in 2013, including nine juniors and five seniors.
