SCORES (PDF) -- TEAM | INDIVIDUAL | COMBODUNNELLON, Fla. -- The Morehead State women posted a 299 in the second round of the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort. The Eagles are tied for fifth in the 18-team field with one round to play.
Freshman Jeanette Petersen paced Morehead State in round two with a 73. Sophomore Anna Magnusson recorded a 74, while freshman Sarah Debnekoff carded a 75, junior Katie Rice posted a 77 and junior Linnea Scholin registered a 79.
Petersen is tied for 12th out of 101 golfers, while Magnusson owns a share of 25th. MSU's entire line-up is in the top half of the field after 36 holes. Senior Vanessa Bognot and freshman Ebba Gustafsson, playing as individuals, both notched 78s.
The top six teams are currently separated by just five strokes. Daytona State (596) has climbed into the lead after firing a tournament-best 291 in round two. Elon and South Dakota State are just one stroke behind DSC, while Murray State is three back.
Morehead State and Western Kentucky are locked at 601. MSU owns five top-three performances in 2014-15.
The Eagles lead Division I programs Stetson (603), South Alabama (604), Stephen F. Austin (606), North Florida (606), Florida Gulf Coast (609), Akron (620), Richmond (622), Ball State (628), Omaha (633) and Austin Peay (643). USA led after round one.
The course plays at a par of 72 and yardage of 6,113. Only three individuals are even or under par. Daytona State freshman Ji Sun Kang, who owns a 69-72--141, is the individual leader. Both of the tournament's sub-70 rounds came on the opening day.
