Soccer seeks third straight win Sunday at Belmont

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Coming off back-to-back wins to polish off the 2016 home slate, Morehead State soccer (5-9-2, 2-4-1 Ohio Valley Conference) will visit the Bruins of Belmont (4-6-4, 3-2-1 OVC) on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

"We're really hitting our stride," said head coach Warren Lipka. "I just think that our girls are getting it."

Last Thursday, the Eagles defeated Jacksonville State 2-1 at Jayne Stadium. Sophomore Cara Maher assisted freshman Ashley Ritchie for her team-leading fifth goal of the season, before Maher scored an unassisted goal of her own.

"Whatever happens the rest of the year, I couldn't be any prouder of these kids—how they've kept on fighting, how resilient they've been, and how they've matured," Lipka said. "Let's just keep on playing."

Morehead State defeated Belmont 1-0 in overtime last season. Sunday's match will be broadcast live on the OVC Digital Network.
