MOREHEAD, Ky. --
With the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on the horizon, the Morehead State Baseball team opens its final regular-season week with a final non-conference test at No. 7 Vanderbilt Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Following Tuesday's battle, The Eagles wrap up the OVC slate Thursday-Saturday at Murray State. Tuesday's game can be heard live on MSUEagles.com and can be seen live online on the SEC Network Plus. According to records, The Eagles have only met Vanderbilt three times, trailing 2-1. The win came in 1993. The Eagles have also faced nationally teams N.C. State (No. 8), Louisville (No. 4) and Kentucky (No. 28) this year.

The Eagles (30-22) are fresh off a three-game sweep of Jacksonville State at home this past weekend. That put MSU in a good position heading into the final weekend, needing just one win to clinch one of the six OVC Tournament spots.

Junior lefthander Curtis Wilson (2-4, 4.86 ERA) will start for the Eagles, and he'll face Vandy righty Matt McGarry (1-0, 5.68 ERA).

"We won't see any better arms this year than we'll see at Vanderbilt," said head coach Mike McGuire. "We'll have our hands full. They have one of the best staffs in the nation, but this will also be a good experience for our team. It's another chance to face a nationally-ranked program. This is the best time of the year. School is finished and we can just focus on baseball."

The Commodores, who have been to the College World Series Championship series two straight years, are 37-15 overall and are 27-5 at home in 2016.

MSU junior rightfielder Will Schneider carries a 16-game hitting streak into the contest. In that span, he has 11 multi-hit games. Junior centerfielder Ryan Kent has reached base safely in 18 straight games. Freshman leftfielder Niko Hulsizer is this week's OVC Player of the Week and now leads the league with a .436 batting average against conference competition.
